BOY BLUE ALEXANDER

I did this watercolour of Alexander Downer as the Blue Boy for the Rotary Cartoon Awards, I ended up receiving runner up in the caricature section for my depiction of Belinda Neal as the Incredible Sulk, but I liked this one better

NEWCASTLE COUNCIL "DOG LAUNCH"

After weeks of doing what I considered a dream job (creating humorous illustrations of dogs), the van & brochure dog series for the Newcastle City Counctil was launched in Civic Park yesterday. The star of the show was a 15 year old King Charles Spaniel named Kappi, she was one of my subjects & appears (in her younger years) on the van.

Well I finally purchased a Wacom tablet & have started practising. I have drawn a sketch of one of my favourite subjects Daniel Johns (Silverchair) ... I used the pencil tool in Photoshop.

SURFEST

Surfest was a great weekend. Besides the brilliant surfing Eclipse Media put on a Waves & Wine festival, everyone had an amazing time. I had a stall set up with caricatures of the surfers (Occy, Mark RIchards, Steph Gilmore & many more) .... I was lucky enough to get the majority of the caricatures signed & meet some of the surfers .... you couldn't ask to meet a nicer group of people.

Hi, Surfest has come to Newcastle once again & the town is buzzing .... there is going to be a tribute night for the surfing great Mark Occhilupo, I have been asked to draw a caricature for a gift, I did two, this is the acrylic.

BALD ARCHYS 2008

Hi there, the Bald Archy winner was announced yesterday, the winner James Brennan painted a very funny picture of the Danish Royal Family. Here's my entries Kevin 007 (the guy who loved ME), Daniel Johns - High Society (The pot in the cot affair) & Michael Hutchence - Bitter Tears (Michael didn't make the cut).

The witty, whacky & wonderful Bald Archy's are just about to kick off again. The exhibition opens this weekend at the Museum of the Riverina in Wagga after which it travels about the country side, make sure you check the exhibition out - the paintings are sure to make you laugh.
