MURAL - NEWCASTLE FAMILY DENTAL IN MAYFIELD

I have been working on a mural for a local dental surgery over the past couple of weeks. I had such fun & loved every minute of it. The client was amazing & let me do what I wanted, so I incorporated humourous dental scenes & other relevant images to the practice. The mural was 19.5m x 5.2m, a rather large canvas. I did everything freehand. I can't wait to do another mural.

TONY ABBOTT - BUDGET SMUGGLER

I don't paint politicians that often, but I thought I would have a crack at our Prime Minister Tony Abbott. To me Tony appears a little inflated & arrogant, so I drew him with a big pumped up chest (thanks Arnie) & Joe Hockey as the cigar smoking seagull pumping him with air. Lots of fun

ANIMATION FOR SARA STORER'S CANOE FILM CLIP

This is a still from the recent animation work I did on the new Sara Storer clip. The amazing Duncan Toombs (5 times Golden Guitar winner) from the Filmery directed & created this clip. Canoe is a beautiful song & is a homage to John Williamson. Go check it out

BALD ARCHYS HITS SYDNEY

The Bald Archy hit Sydney last Friday & will be shown at the Italian Forum in Leichhardt until August 24. GO SEE! So much fun in one room. Here are some pics from the opening.

STUDIO 10 BALD ARCHYS

I was fortunate enough to be invited onto Channel Ten's 'STUDIO 10' program to draw one of the panel. I drew the lovely Natarsha Belling, little did Ita, Jess & Joe know I had already painted caricatures of them. I had so much fun, you could not meet a nicer team of people.

IAN THORPE INTO THE LIGHT

I started painting Ian Thorpe months ago after I heard about his battle with depression. Like most Australians, I love Thorpie & was saddened to hear this. The background was originally blue tones & I kind of put in on the back burner, until now .... Ian Thorpe came out on Sunday night, I hope he finds the happiness he deserves now he can publically live his truth & finally get the media off his back about his sexuality. The rainbow after the rain.

BOB DYLAN PORTRAIT

My painting of Bob Dylan. This is what my hair looked like in the 80s HA!

NICK CAVE PORTRAIT

Inspired by one of my friends, I wanted to do a looser style of painting. This is my natural style, how I used to paint years ago. I had a lot of fun painting this potrait.

SKYE PENCIL DRAWING

I did a pencil sketch of Skye as a sugar skull. I haven't done a pencil drawing for years & I enjoyed it so much. I love digital work for many reasons, but there's nothing like pencil on paper.

BALD ARCHY WINNER 2014 - MITCHELL JOHNSON WRECKING BALLS (ASHES TO ASHES)

I am so excited about winning the Bald Archy prize this year with my cheeky painting of Mitchell Johnson. Mitchell blitzed the English batting line with his fast bowling, so I thought Mitchell swinging on a HUGE cricket wrecking ball (a la Miley Cyrus) was quite appropriate.  I had a heap of fun in Canberra on Friday & can't thank Peter Batey enough. Peter's tireless work, humour & passion make the BA's what they are & after 21 years the prize just keeps getting bigger & better. My friends Steve Panozzo & James Brennan also had some brilliant works hung. Go see this great exhibiton, it will be touring NSW & Victoria until the end of the year.

LONG LIVE MS MAUDE THE COCKATOO!

BALD ARCHYS 2014

It's Bald Archy time again, the irreverent alternative to the Archibald prize that allows we artists to have a little fun. This year I have painted the amazing Tina Arena, Cate Blanchett & the Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, who ripped the Poms batting line apart. The exhibition starts on Jan 31 at Watson Arts Centre in Canberra & will tour for the remainder of the year. Go see, I promise that you'll laugh like you've never laughed before at an exhibition. www.baldarchy.com.au
